General Admission Guideline

Admission Criteria

  1. Students, who have passed 10+2 final examination or equivalent for the institution enlisted by The University of Burdwan can apply for admission into undergraduate courses.
  2. Candidature is liable to be cancelled if any wrong data is produced at the time of application/ verification.

Eligibility Criteria

Following instruction issued by the University of Burdwan vide Circular No. RC/PERM/ ADM/539 dated 08.05.07, the formula for calculation of aggregate for admission to the 1styear courses at UG level (Session 2018-2019) will be:

Agreegate =Language 1 + Language 2 + Sum of best 3 electives out of 4 / 5

Aggregate = Language 1 X2 + Sum of best 3 electives out of 4/5 (in case of one language subject) 5

  1. Candidates who have passed (10+2) Final Examination conducted by NOS/ IGNOU/ RabindraMuktaVidayalaya/NETAJI SUBHAS OPEN UNIVERSITY should have at least five subjects of 100 marks each including at least one language subject (English or Bengali) and three conventional subjects will be considered for admission in the 1styear if found eligible.

  2. No candidate prior to 2015 will be entertained.

Marks secured by WBCHSE candidates in Environmental Studies will not be counted for calculating aggregate. However, marks secured in Environmental Studies by non-WBCHSE candidates may be counted for calculating aggregate if that marks comes within the best three Electives. If there is just one language, aggregate will have to be calculated with the single language and four best Electives. If there are only four Electives apart from the language, all the Four Electives should be considered for calculating aggregate.

Important Information for the Admission 2018-19

  1. Applications are to be accepted only through the online procedure
  2. Applicants have to provide email address and mobile number in the application form. Personal email ID and mobile number of the applicant are mandatory for submission of application.
  3. For each Honours subject the applicant has to make payment individually
  4. Name of the Applicant (in BLOCK LETTERS) are to be filled up according to the admit card of Madhyamik or equivalent examinations.
  5. Category: Please select General, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Physically Handicapped (PH), OBC (A), OBC (B).
  6. The Date of Birth is to be written according to the admit card of Madhyamik or equivalent examinations.
  7. Council / Board / University: The name of the Higher Secondary Council or the equivalent exam is to be written for admission in B.A /B.Sc Honours course.
  8. Year of passing (last qualifying Exam): The year of passing of the last qualifying Exam (H.S or equivalent exams) is to be written for admission in B.A /B.Sc Honours course.
  9. Marks Aggregate in H.S. or Equivalent Exam: The numbers of the Best 5 Subjects are to be considered as Aggregate Marks and the percentage is to be calculated out of 500. Alternative English is to be taken as the compulsory subject where ‘Bengali’ is not a subject in H.S.
  10. The number of seats in each subject is fixed. Candidates will be selected according to the result in the H.S or equivalent exams.
  11. The admission to the Honours streams are to be made online.
  12. The students passed in the Vocational Streams of H.S. (10+2) can only apply for the Honours in Computer Science.
  13. The candidates passed H.S before 2015 are not to be considered for admission in B.A/B.Sc Honours course in 2018-19.
  14. The candidates who have taken admission elsewhere are admitted to this college provisionally. However transfer certificate or admission cancellation certificate from the previous institution is to be submitted within seven days of provisional admission otherwise the admission to this college may be cancelled.
  15. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the merit score of candidates. In case two candidates have same merit score, then consider the marks of the desired subject and according to that prepare the merit list.
  16. . The college authority has the right to cancel the admission if any information in the application form is found to be suppressed or wrong. The decision of the college authority is final in case of admission.
  17. All admissions are provisional until the verification and approval of University of Burdwan.

Step by Step guidelines for online Application Procedure

Step 1 Click to new Registration
Step 2 Fill up your name, Date of birth, School name, 10+2 level board, 10+2 Roll No., Mobile no. and caste
Step 3 You will receive a message in your mobile where application number and password will be provided
Step 4 Enter your application number and password to Log In
Step 5 A new page will be opened up. First enter Fathers name, then Mothers name, Guardian income, parents occupation, Guardians phonenumber and relationship with Guardian. Then save your data and you will be automatically directed to the next tab i.e Residential.
Step 6 Under the residential tab you first have to enter authentic communication address, police station, nationality, domicile category, pincode,state,district and country. If permanent address and local address is same then click the box. Then save the information and you will be automatically directed to the next tab i.e personal.
Step 7 Under ‘personal’ tab enter your email id, religion, ration card category, blood group, aadhaar card number (optional). Candidates with disability 40% and above should mention the nature and % of disability. Then mention marital status and gender. Save the information and you will be directed to the next tab ‘academic’
Step 8 Under academic tab enter your H.S. stream, year of passing, registration number and year of registration. Then enter your marks in marksheet and then save your information and you will be directed to the next tab i.e courses
Step 9 Under ‘Courses’ tab select streams, then program and then honours and then click on apply and save. If any candidate wants to apply for more than one subject then click on apply and save, then he will be allowed to apply for other subjects. Candidates can click on the ‘click to delete option if he/she wants to delete the particular application and he can click on ‘click to payment’ if he wants to make payment for the particular application. After that move to the tab upload document.
Step 10 Under the Upload document tab candidate have to upload their photo and signature. The photo should be maximum 50 kb and signature should be maximum 20 kb. Then save the information and you will be directed to the next tab ‘print and pay
Step 11 Under the tab print and pay there are options for view/print current application form here the candidate can view and print their application form. Candidates are requested to take a print out of the application form. Candidates willing to make payment for the application are requested to click on ‘click to process payment’ option, there is also separate option to download challan for those candidates willing to make payment through offline mode. Candidates must understand that only after making the payment for the application, the process of submission of application is complete. Candidates should make payment of Rs. 100/- separately for each subject he/she has applied for and if any candidate has not made the payment for any particular subject his/her name will not be present in the merit list for that particular subject.

Admission Verification

Procedure of Admission

  1. 1. After submitting the application form, candidates should pay application fee through online (SBI online or Billdesk by credit/debit card or internet banking) or offline mode by generating challan and depositing the fee in nearest SBI Bank.
  2. College will publish a provisional merit list indicating the merit position of all candidates who have applied for each subject. A day will be provided to the candidates to address all the grievances related to provisional merit list, any grievances brought to notice after that day will not be entertained by the college authorities.
  3. After addressing the grievances, final merit list will be published for each subject.

Counselling Process

  1. First online counselling will be done according to the number of seats for each subject. The number of seats that are available only those numbers of names of candidates will be published in first online counselling list. The selected candidates for each Honours subject will be intimated through email or SMS, candidates have to log in to the website and make the payment either through online or offline mode to complete the admission procedure. On the basis of the seats lying vacant subsequent online counselling will be done in similar manner
  2. Candidates do not have to come to college for counselling as it is an online counselling. Candidates have to visit college with documents mentioned at the time of verification. All admissions are provisional until the verification and approval of University of Burdwan.

Choise Based Credit System

In accordance to the guidelines of University of Burdwan, the college has been practising a semester based system instead of previous 1+1+1 Honours course, from previous academic session 2017-18, which will also continue in this session. There will be total 6 semesters each of 6 months duration. The course structure has also been changed to a Choice Based Credit System. The entire assessment is graded-based on a credit system. The course structure of Honours is as follows. According to UGC, Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) makes education broad-based and at par with global standards.

Subject Combination

The students will presently be admitted solely on the basis of their opted core courses (equivalent to 'honours subject' of the previous undergraduate system). The choice of General Elective courses (equivalent to General combination courses of the previous system) will be offered to the students as soon as clear and final directive regarding this matter is received from the University of Burdwan, considered in conjunction with the resource availability within the college.
